April 22 – May 1, 2018 – 10 DAYS / 9 NIGHTS
ISRAEL – A Manger, a Cross, an empty Tomb and a beach where breakfast is served in the Galilee! Come with us as we walk where He walked, pray where He prayed, weep where He wept!
As we visit His Land we will spend time on the Sea of Galilee, visit the Garden Tomb, the Old City, the Garden of Gethsemane and oh so much more. A new addition is the optional GOLAN HEIGHTS JEEP TOUR, a geopolitical tour that takes you right up to the Syrian border.
While we at Holy Ground invite you to be a part, we feel that ultimately it is God’s invitation to you to visit this Land that will truly transform your lives.
As we land in Tel Aviv, you will immediately feel you are “home.” Our first night will be spent at our hotel right on the Mediterranean Sea with a magnificent view of the ancient seaport of Jaffa.
From here we travel north to the ancient port CAESAREA. See the ancient theatre, the Hippodrome, the port built by Herod. Then we turn east to visit MT. CARMEL (Elijah’s contest with the followers of Baal). We will have a magnificent view of the VALLEY of ARMAGEDDON as well as visit the Tel at MEGIDDO. At the eastern end of the valley we will be able to have an overlook of NAZARETH from high atop MT. PRECIPICE. We then arrive at our “home” for the next 3 nights on the shores of the SEA of GALILEE.
THE GALILEE – not just the sea, but the area from where Jesus called eleven of His twelve disciples. We will visit the ancient city of CAPERNAUM, sail on the sea itself, as well as visit TABGHA, as well as a relatively new archaeological site, MAGDALA. We will head north to visit CAESAREA PHILIPPI (“Who do men say that I am?”), TEL DAN and the GOLAN HEIGHTS.
Those wanting to participate can sign up for a Geopolitical Jeep Tour – surely a highlight! See and hear what’s going on in Syria up close!
En route to the wastelands of the Judean desert, we head south following the Jordan River. We visit BEIT SHE’AN, one of the greatest archaeological digs in all of Israel. We will stop at BETHABARA, right on the JORDAN RIVER. Those wanting to be baptized or rededicated will have an opportunity to do so. It is believed that this is very close to where Jesus would have been baptized.
Our next night will be at the lowest geographical point on the earth’s surface – the DEAD SEA. It’s time to rest and recharge our batteries, allowing plenty of time for a float. While in the desert, we will be given the opportunity to visit the ancient mountain fortress of MASADA, EN GEDI where many of the Psalms were penned, and QUMRAN, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered.
We will begin our ascent to the CITY of GOLD – JERUSALEM, which we will call home for the next four nights. The experience of Jerusalem will forever be seared into your senses – the sights, smells and sounds of Jerusalem are unduplicated elsewhere. Our sites include: MOUNT of OLIVES, GARDEN GETHSEMANE, the CITY of DAVID, the SOUTHERN STEPS, the WESTERN WALL, the PAVEMENT (where Jesus would have been scourged), and an empty tomb – the GARDEN TOMB. Also included will be the ISRAEL MUSEUM and YAD VASHEM (the Holocaust Memorial). And for the first time, we have built in an entire free day for you to visit or re-visit sites, or perhaps just take a stroll and allow the plethora of memories to find their way into your very soul.
This trip will change the way you read your Bible. The words will no longer be just black and white letters on a page; they become memories that are in living color! Your feet will have, in a sense, walked the WORDS.
Israel is not just another vacation or destination to check off the list. It is the most impactful place that a person can visit and it is only because I have been there that I say that. Prior to my first visit to Israel I was anxious and nervous because I didn’t know what to expect and was being questioned by many people as to whether or not I was in my right mind for going. I felt I might be making a mistake and thought maybe all the people questioning my sanity were right to do so. (more…)
Never having been to the Middle East, or really anywhere very far from home in the U.S., a couple of friends and I were intrigued with the thought of visiting the Promised Land. We saw a promotion to go with Dan and Sharon with an organization we knew through our study of God’s Word, and we were compelled enough to book a tour. As the date approached, the idea that sounded so good as “something to do someday”, was becoming a reality and I was growing increasingly hesitant (at best) and fearful (at least). (more…)
I would say that a spiritual trip to the land of Israel is a must for every believer. If you never travel anywhere else in the world and have only one trip overseas, there is no doubt in our minds it should be Israel. We've had the privilege of seeing the Land of the Bible with Dan, Sharon and Jane on 2 occasions in 2014 and 2015. In all honesty our lives have never been the same. (more…)
We have been blessed with three opportunities to be on tours in the Holy Land with groups arranged and led by Dan and Sharon Stolebarger. Each tour was different in content — all were superbly organized, starting with a smooth arrival process into Israel with a warm greeting on arrival. (more…)
If you are thinking of visiting Israel, Jordan or the biblical sites of Turkey, then think Holy Ground Explorations. Why? Because, who you travel with will profoundly influence what you experience in these unique lands. With Holy Ground Explorations, you will be treated to more than a rushed visit to the historical and biblical highlights. You will be more than just “one of many” on a bus tour. Because for the Holy Ground Exploration leaders, Dan and Sharon Stolebarger — it’s personal. That is their vision. (more…)
My time living in Israel has proven to be one of the most spiritual growth times of my life. I told someone after 30 days that I was so ready to come home, but enjoyed every day I was there including the last day in Jerusalem, I found myself wanting to soak up every place we went from day 1 to day 30. Even while we traveled in the vans, I never wanted to sleep or even doze for fear I might miss even the smallest site. Day after day I looked with wonder at God’s land and all the Jewish people we met. (more…)
As someone from the U.K. who has done numerous trips to Israel since 1988, I have yet to come across anything that could even come close to this one. Why? Well everything from the practical and organizational side, to the choice of sights and hotels is outstanding. But a tour is only ever going to be as good as its guide (and the coach driver) and this is where they excel. Absolutely head and shoulders above anything I’ve experienced!! (more…)
